I will be honest, I always liked the concept behind

Only a couple clicks and a client can set an order with a freelancer based on a specific set of deliverables.

Easy peasy, right? Sure, however, it comes at a price. A significant one.

This is only the very few freelance platforms in which buyers are given free reign to abuse, sabotage and outright blackmail vendors any way they like.

In this post, I would like to discuss a new bad experience as a vendor on Fiverr, also why I chose to give up on the stage altogether.

(I've been guiding her building up a respectable account, and how to go above and beyond every last order. Everything stated is that her doing, I'm just an observer.)

In this case, she had only gotten another $5 order on her logo gig, which appeared to be similar to another... so we believed.

The order was fulfilled in good time, and my buddy had even included a bonus emblem concept as well as the source file (which is usually part of the page pricier bundle ).

The client"loved" among the concepts so we moved to ship her the appropriates file sizes, as mentioned in the final description. Soon afterwards, things got a little weird.

The customer came back requesting a social networking kit to decide on the logo, something which is obviously not offered as part of her or his gig.

Against my advice, my buddy decided to deliver the additional job, although not getting paid any extra for it.

Following that, the customer responded with even more demands and some changes to the social networking files.

At this time, she agreed enough was enough.

Despite every effort to please this individual, they have been clearly overstepping their bounds here.

That is when the customer went from simply overstepping bounds to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of carrying my girlfriend's Fiverr standing hostage.)

While she took a while to ponder a reply and reach out to Fiverr service for assistance, the client did finally go right ahead and leave a 1 star review.

Presumably this was to demonstrate her he/she wasn't Fiverr review - Bonsai kidding.

Soon after, while still waiting on Fiverr's response to the support query, the client paid an extra $10 to your social networking kit.

Obviously, the payment has been accompanied by still another danger.

At this point, all I wanted to do was move all Liam Neeson and seek this individual down so I could punch them from the face.

However, at the moment, I had hope that Fiverr service will step in and save my girlfriend out of that PITA client.

When the response came back from Fiverr support, they told that they could Fiverr Review: How to Find Virtual Assistants that Don't Suck - Crowd ... not force the purchaser to accept the order.

Alright, that is reasonable enough. (though the purchaser accepted it.)

In addition they suggested drawing up a listing for the purchaser to reveal the job was done in accordance with the gig requirements.

My girlfriend hauled in her initial email the client was trying to extort her for free work out the agreed conditions, by leaving a negative review if she didn't comply.

Needless to say, it wasn't about the job, it was about seeking protection from an abusive client who was intentionally pushing his luck.

Their reply did not provide either of us some confidence that Fiverr really understood that, and even at this stage we felt like they didn't need to get involved.

At precisely the identical time, she also responded to the buyers newest threat, explaining that she would not continue to work together unless the feedback had been changed/removed.

(Again, this can be feedback that was clearly and blatantly made to intimidate her to providing function out of the agreed provisions )

An honest petition by anyones standards, right?

As opposed to acknowledge what the purchaser had done up until this time, Fiverr immediately turned the tables in my girlfriend.

Turns out, she had been the one breaking all the rules.

Because she'd asked the client to modify their opinions, she was no more entitled to some help from Fiverr assistance.

It's possible to imagine how we felt reading this.

Everything that the purchaser had said and done prior to her very last message has been now being swept under the carpet -- like never happened in any way.

Fiverr essentially opted to encourage a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend using a permanent stain in an accounts she'd worked so hard to accumulate.

And think, there are loads of buyers doing exactly this on Fiverr, knowing they can and will eliminate it.

Well, as most of this was occurring, I did some research to find out whether any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with a buyer.

Very quickly, I discovered a variety of nearly identical cases over the Fiverr forum dated years ago. (that's right, decades.)

This is clearly something which's been happening for a long time and it stems from providing buyers also much power over sellers.

If there's 1 thing I've heard about Fiverr, it is that customers are ALWAYS more valued than freelancers.

Doesn't matter how much time that you put into a job, or just how hard you've worked on itor perhaps how long you handled communication during a dispute, as it actually boils down to it... freelancers have little to no protection.

Even when it's a clear cut case in your favour, there's still every chance the customer will come out on top. All it takes it one little thing you"did no way" in accordance with their conditions of service and EVERYTHING else is ignored

Looking at the signs, it's obvious to me that Fiverr is well aware of what's going on, yet is still prepared to sit back and let it happen.

A Last Message To Fiverr. If you're a decision maker at Fiverr and you're reading this, I urge you to seriously reevaluate your existing support procedures for freelancers.

It is not right that somebody can set all the time and effort in building up an account and also over-delivering at every conceivable chance, just to be shot down from the very people that you rely on to protect you.

Look, I don't want to leave Fiverr. I really don't need to be telling folks to prevent your own platform.

But after everything that has happened, you have not left me any choice.

Until something is done to protect freelancers from using this sort of abuse, I will continue to spread this article and do whatever I can to prevent others from falling prey to your one-sided support team.

The second you truly do something about this and provide freelancers a way to fight back, I will be more than happy to update the post.
